Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center?The Center is a not-for-profit, volunteer-operated clinic which provides free or discounted health services to residents and workers of Pickens County who have no access to healthcare. Where is the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center located?The Center is located at 175 Samaritan Drive, next to the Pickens County Health Department. Who does the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center serve?The Center serves those who (1) live or work in Pickens County, (2) meet the financial eligibility standards, and (3) have no insurance for the service being sought. All patients are screened for eligibility. How can I support Good Samaritan Heath and Wellness Center?VolunteerThe Center operates with a volunteer staff. Over 250 volunteers are needed each month. Fortunately, there are many retired healthcare professionals (doctors, dentists, nurses, and others) who live in the area, and many of them volunteer their services. They are aided by currently practicing professionals who are volunteers. In addition, others with no healthcare background fill the many necessary support positions, such as secretarial, medical records, eligibility screening, and appointments. What about community support for the Good Samaritan Center?The Center has a broad base of support in the community from local citizens, churches, charitable and service organizations, and members of state and local government. When is the Center open?The Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Thursday afternoon for diabetic clinic only. Please call for appointment: 706-253-4673. These leaders represent the business and professional community, retired healthcare professionals, and others with extensive training and experience.
