Volunteers in Medicine Institute
The Volunteers in Medicine Institute (VIMI) was created in response to requests for assistance in replicating the VIM Clinic model in communities across the country.
The mission of VIMI is to promote and guide the development of a national network of free clinics emphasizing the use of retired medical and lay volunteers to care for the "working uninsured" within a culture of caring so that everyone in a community has access to health care.
The National Association of Free Clinics (NAFC)
The NAFC is the only national non-profit whose mission is solely focused on the needs of free clinics and the populations they serve. Founded in 2001 by Free Clinic leaders from across the country, the NAFC supports community-based, non-profit, volunteer-supported Free Clinics serving the uninsured and underinsured. The Leadership of the NAFC focuses on bringing advocacy, networking, and needed resources to free clinics to help them face their many challenges.
The NAFC estimates that Free Clinics raise over $300 million per year in private funds, which are used to provide care for approximately 3.5 million uninsured and underinsured patients, and generate $3 billion dollars in health care services.
Together with our members and associates, we help volunteer health providers and their community volunteers address the growing health crisis among the working poor in the U.S.
The Georgia Free Clinic Network
We represent health care providers across Georgia that provide care free or with a minimal fee.
We connect these providers to partnering individuals, businesses, and organizations that enable them to continue and improve their good work. These partners are committed to assisting the growing population of those unable to afford healthcare in Georgia through professional service, supplies, and more.
The vision of GFCN is "uniting for a healthy Georgia." The mission of GFCN is to serve as a collaborative support system fostering growth and development of clinics and improving access to quality healthcare for the medically underserved.
